Outreach & Promotion

Robust, relevant, and responsive outreach programs developed and delivered within academic libraries aim to engage and support learners, non-users, the under-served, persons with special needs, and targeted groups. The library community changes and shifts its needs driving communication and outreach programs to continually assess and vary programs meeting the diverse information and service needs of any community.

Outreach programs are uniquely situated to offer collaboration opportunities with community leaders, groups, and organization inside and outside the institution enhancing library services while improving the library’s image.

Throughout my academic library career many projects have been solo works; however, I have been honoured to work with strong, supportive, and creative colleagues developing various communication and outreach programs and events, such as:

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

In my role, eLibrarian, at Huntsville Public Library, I had the opportunity to develop a comprehensive multi-month and multiplatform social media presence.

My contribution to social media collateral development, strategic planning, and writing content started in September 2019.  However, branding and designing a common-look-and-feel began in March 2020 at the outset of the COVIE-19 pandemic.  The library pivoted from a brick and mortar structure to digital.  This required the strategic and evidence-based development of a 9 – 12 month plan complete with campaigns, messaging, tone and attitude development, and velocity.   My contribution to the social media marketing of Huntsville Public Library ended in early 2021.
